Purpose
Bush League is the promotion of quartetting by offering coaching, craft development, presentation techniques, and friendly competition to participating quartets. The program perpetuates the fun and informal environment of a non-sanctioned competition while allowing quartets to tune their skills for their individual performances and/or in preparation for fall District Convention and Contest.
Quartets (registered and non-registered) are invited to participate in a day of coaching and then participate in a non-sanctioned quartet contest. The contest is open to friends and family.
Rules
Competing quartets do not have to be registered with the Barbershop Harmony Society. New or “make-up” quartets are encouraged to participate.
There are two categories of participants, those who choose to compete for the Bush League Trophy and those competing “For Score Only.”
Quartets that have previously competed in Society sanctioned District or International Preliminary competitions and placed 3rd or higher are NOT eligible for the Bush League Trophy but may compete for score only.
Individual members who have competed in a quartet in a Society sanctioned District or International Preliminary competition that placed 1st are NOT eligible for the Bush League Trophy but may compete for score only.
A quartet competing for the Bush League Trophy may only have one member who has competed in Society sanctioned District or International Preliminary competitions and placed 2nd or 3rd.
All senior and college quartets are eligible.
Quartets that have previously won the “Bush League Trophy” are NOT eligible. These quartets may compete for score only.
All quartets must sing two legal contestable barbershop songs.
